UPS Store Holds Book Drive to Benefit Children at Miracle Hill

Greer, South Carolina – In an effort to help deliver the gift of reading to less fortunate children in the United States, The UPS Store® in Greer has launched a book donation drive for the Toys for Tots Literacy Program to benefit children in care at Miracle Hill Ministries.

“At any given time, Miracle Hill has as many as 89 children in our three children’s shelters,” said Brad Holland, Director of Miracle Hill Children's Home. “Having books for these children who often come to us with nothing goes a long way toward providing thoughtful care that promotes education and fun learning.”

The UPS Store located at 2123 Old Spartanburg Rd, Greer, SC 29650 and the Greer Miracle Hill Thrift Store at 14179E West Wade Hampton Blvd, Greer, SC 29650 will be accepting new or gently used books April 1 – 29, 2017 for the BOOK DRIVE to benefit the Toys for Tots Literacy Program, a year-round initiative of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. The Literacy Program, developed by The UPS Store and the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation in 2008, helps purchase books for children who need it most in Greenville County. Customers may also donate monetarily online at www.toysfortots.org/literacy and learn more about the Toys for Tots Literacy Program.

“The community’s participation in the Toys for Tots Literacy Program is a key component to the success of this promotion,” said The UPS Store franchisee Leigh Abdou. “This program provides us the unique opportunity to work with a nationally-recognized organization yet make an impact in our community, which is only possible because of thoughtful contributions from the people in this city.”

Since partnering with Toys for Tots to launch the Literacy Program in 2008, UPS and The UPS Store network have raised more than $3.5 million to purchase books for underprivileged children nationwide. Through the partnership, The UPS Store has distributed more than 36.8 million books to children during the holiday season, including here in the Upstate.
