Columbia, S.C. (October 25, 2017) – The 2017 State Fall Games will be held November 10-12 in Greenville, S.C. This event will bring together 1400 athletes, 250 coaches and hundreds of families, caregivers and volunteers. Athletes compete in various levels in eight sports; Bocce, Bowling, Disc Golf, Tennis, Golf, Volleyball, Flag Football and Soccer.
In addition to sporting events, Olympic Town and Healthy Athletes free health screenings will take place at Conestee Park.
Beginning Friday, November 10, State Fall Games will kick off with the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Final Leg run which will begin at the Greenville Law Enforcement Center. Officers from surrounding agencies will carry the Flame of Hope to the Opening Ceremony beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the TD Convention Center. Opening Ceremony includes lighting of the cauldron, special guest speakers and entertainment. The following day, Saturday, November 11, bocce, flag football, soccer and volleyball will be held at Conestee Park. Golf will be held at Carolina Springs Golf Club. Bowling returns to Wade Hampton Lanes and AMF Star Lanes. Disc Golf will be held at Gower Estates Park. Saturday will wrap up with Closing Ceremony and dance at the TD Convention Center.
An important part of Special Olympics South Carolina is our Healthy Athlete program. Healthy Athletes offers free health screenings for our athletes. There will be two disciplines at State Fall Games; Fit Feet and Health Promotions. Any athlete can attend Healthy Athletes disciplines and if problems are found they will be referred to a local physician.
