New App Locally Epic Launches

GREENVILLE, S.C. – An innovative new app is launching locally that will allow businesses and consumers to connect in ways never before seen in the region.

Locally Epic engages local consumers via a mobile platform that allows them to enhance their ability to find local offers and promotions from a wide range of businesses in real time, while allowing businesses to effectively reach new audiences, said Chase Michaels, the company’s CEO and founder.

“Locally Epic will enable Greenville area consumers to engage with homegrown businesses, which in turn helps to drive the local economy,” Michaels said. “We are taking the think and buy local motto to a new level. We want people to focus on what makes Greenville truly epic.”

The app, which can be downloaded here or found on Itunes or GooglePlay, will have 45 total categories. Of them, 30 will be business categories such as restaurants and stores, while the others will be about job offers, non-profit organizations, schools and more, he said. So far, 100 local businesses have signed on to promote their products and services on the Locally Epic platform.

“Locally Epic provides local businesses with the leading hyper-local mobile marketing software-as-a-service platform through its app that allows them to reach consumers who are nearby and ready to buy their products right now,” Michaels said.

Locally Epic tested the app last fall by working with organizations such as the Greenville Swamp Rabbits and the Greenville Drive, said Jeremiah Dew, the company’s vice president of business development. The app already has more than 18,000 followers in Greenville.

“We spent the past few months fine tuning what a person will experience and interface with on the app to help the consumer and the business better engage,” Dew said. “What we have learned is that people want authentic and innovative ways to create a great local experience.”

Locally Epic also is creating mass way for small business to get noticed, Michaels said. A lot of people are deleting apps from their phone, while many small businesses don’t have the resources to create new apps to meet market needs. Locally Epic allows companies to share the app, and by creating value to consumers the app is more likely to get added – not purged.

Michele Minor, Locally Epic’s chief information officer, said the technology behind the Locally Epic app allows businesses to fine tune their message as needed. For example, if a restaurant, wants to get more people in during the lunch hour, they can target the app’s followers in a specific area and send offers and promotions right to their phone.

“Consumers get the offers they want, when and where they want them,” she said. “Business owners can create an offer, choose the time it broadcasts and how long that promotion lasts. This allows the business to engage the consumer when they are near the business and looking to make a purchase.”

While helping the local economy is one part of the platform, the company also has plans to expand into working with non-profits to help find volunteers; event organizers to track crowd movement during major events; bring together job seekers and companies with openings and more uses, said Dave Ropes, the company’s chief marketing officer. Locally Epic also allows a business better and stronger ways to build a trackable customer loyalty program.

Locally Epic chose the Greenville area to launch because its team believes the region’s economic growth and high number of small businesses make it a perfect fit for the platform.

“We want to celebrate what the Greenville area has to offer,” Ropes said. “People love Greenville and the Upstate for a reason. We want to celebrate and enhance their experiences here.”
