Going into its third year, the Mountains to Main Street Race Festival has become of the region’s most recognized outdoor events because of the course as well as some of the giveaways for athletes. Some of items athletes will get this time include: awesome finishers’ medals, cool race shirt, beer and great snacks at the finish line including gluten free and fried Oreos.
With a downtown finish along the Reedy River, friends and family have plenty of places to cheer on athletes while taking part in a festival atmosphere.
In addition, there are some unique new tweaks to the event this year such as a 13.1 Military Challenge where qualified athletes (they must be an active member of the United States Military or employed by a government department such as police, fire or emergency crews) compete against each other for the top three spots on the men and women’s half marathon run. There also will be Triathlon relay challenges and other special events. In addition, the Mountain to Main Street Race Festival features an online auction of numerous outdoors and racing here. It can be found here.
“The Mountains to Main Street Race Festival gives every athlete, from the competitive age-grouper to the novice, the experience of a lifetime as they traverse the course spanning three counties across the Upstate of South Carolina and finishing in beautiful downtown Greenville, recipient of numerous national awards for its beauty and welcoming attitude,” McAleer-Pennington said.
