GREENVILLE, S.C. (May 15, 2018) — Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP is pleased to announce that M. Kevin McCarrell has been selected to the 2018-2019 South Carolina Bankruptcy Law Association (SCBLA) board of directors.
McCarrell is a partner in the firm’s Greenville office and a member of the Litigation group. His practice focuses primarily on business, commercial and real estate litigation with an emphasis on creditors’ rights and bankruptcy. Additionally, he is a Certified Specialist in bankruptcy and debtor-creditor law, as certified by the Supreme Court of South Carolina.
McCarrell is the immediate past chair of Compass of Carolina, a local non-profit counseling agency, and a graduate of Leadership Greenville Class 43. He received his juris doctorate, cum laude, from the University of South Carolina School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina Honors College.
The SCBLA is a not-for-profit South Carolina corporation whose primary purpose is to promote bankruptcy legal education for attorneys practicing before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of South Carolina. It serves as a liaison between the bankruptcy bar, the Bankruptcy Court and the Office of the U.S. Trustee.
