CBT reinvents a classic fairytale with a surprising twist
Greenville, S.C. – August 4th , 2017– Carolina Ballet Theatre’s Fall Season begins with a unique adaptation of Snow White. This storybook ballet is based on the classic fairytale; however, Snow White the Ballet will contain a unique twist.
This one-of-a-kind retelling will feature choreography by the acclaimed Mark Diamond, Artistic Director of Charlotte Ballet Two. The ballet was composed using a collage of musical scores in order to craft a novel experience.
Unlike the classic tale starring Snow White and her prince, this version of the story highlights the seven dwarves and gives each of the them a chance to come alive while commanding the stage. This ballet will feature several comedic elements -- thanks in part to Mr. Diamond who specializes in comedic ballets.
The show’s twists don’t stop there. In addition to placing the dwarves on center stage, the ballet will again divert from the traditional storybook narrative and will feature a male dancer as the iconic Evil Queen.
Carolina Ballet Theatre’s Snow White the Ballet will feature two showings at the Gunter Theatre, located in downtown Greenville, one on September 29th and the other on September 30th . For tickets and more information, please visit carolinaballet.org or call the Peace Center at 864-467-3000.
