Benson OctoberFAST Classic Cars and 5K

The 11th Annual Benson OctoberFAST benefiting Greer Community Ministries (GCM) is Saturday, Oct. 14, at Greer First Baptist Church. The event features a 5K run/walk at 8 a.m. and a Classic Car Show hosted by the S. C. Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) from noon to 4 p.m.

Doug Jones, formerly the lead singer with Cravin’ Melon, will perform a free concert from noon to 3 p.m. Lunch plates will be sold noon to 4 p.m. Greenville Health System will give free flu shots and blood pressure checks from noon – 2 p.m.

“When you join us for OctoberFAST and sign up to show a car or run the race, you are helping us feed people right here in Greer,” said Stephen Smith, GCM executive director.

Preregistration for the 5K race, which goes through Greer on a flat, certified course, is available at go-greenevents.com or raceentry.com for $20. Performance T-shirts are included for all participants who register by Sept. 21.

Classic Car Show participants may preregister by filling out a form at gcminc.org. Entry fee is $20 per car. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.

GCM is a non-profit ministry that provides Meals on Wheels to the Greater Greer community as well as a Senior Dining program, a clothing closet, and a food pantry. For more information, visit gcminc.org or call 877-1937.
