Anderson Arts Center Announces New Executive Director

ANDERSON, SC, April 11, 2018 – The Anderson Arts Center proudly announces Leslie Lee has been hired as the new Executive Director. A search committee appointed by the Arts Center Board of Directors selected Lee from a broad slate of qualified candidates following a national search that began in late 2017.

“The Anderson Arts Center is a beautiful facility and is a major asset for Anderson and the surrounding area,” said Lee. “It embodies the true spirit of the arts and the many ways the arts enrich people’s lives. I am honored to join the leadership team. I look forward to continuing the exemplary level of programming and events the Arts Center is known for, and helping to guide the organization to explore new and exciting opportunities.”

“We are delighted to have Leslie join the Arts Center as Executive Director,” said Emily Holland, President of the Anderson Arts Center Board of Directors. “She brings a wealth of expertise and excitement, and we know she’ll embrace the tradition of thriving cultural excellence in the Anderson community.”

Working with the Board of Directors, The Executive Director is responsible for implementing the Anderson Arts Center’s strategic plan, managing grants, fostering community and government relations, growing membership and fiscal management. Lee will officially join the Arts Center on May 1.

Lee, a Boston native, currently resides in York, South Carolina. She holds a degree in Voice Performance from the University of Connecticut, certificates in Non-Profit Management and Diversity and Intercultural Competency from Wake Forest University, and a certificate in Non-Profit Management from Winthrop University. She has extensive experience in performing (both as a child and an adult) as a musician and an actress. Lee served as Executive Director of the Gaston School of the Arts, in Gastonia, NC and has held leadership positions with the Greater Hartford Arts Council, Connecticut Public Broadcasting and Junior Achievement of Central Carolinas. She has served on a variety of non-profit boards in the greater Charlotte, NC area.
