GREENVILLE, SC (April 12, 2017) – Aloft Greenville Downtown today celebrated the one-year anniversary of its foster dog program with local partner Let’em Live Upstate. Through the program, Aloft has fostered dogs in need of a forever home, housing one dog at a time who can be adopted by hotel guests and locals. Together, Aloft and Let’em Live Upstate have found forever homes for more than 30 dogs in need since the program launch in April 2016.
“We are excited to celebrate the great success achieved through the Aloft and Let’em Live Upstate foster dog program over the past year,” said Jonathan Brashier, general manager of Aloft Greenville Downtown. “In addition to being extremely popular with guests staying at our hotel, the program continues to make a lasting impact in Greenville while advocating for the compassionate treatment of animals within our community.”
At a one-year anniversary event held today, all dogs adopted through the program and their families were invited to celebrate, and new dogs were available for adoption. Guests enjoyed refreshments and live entertainment and previewed artwork by Aloft’s new artist in residence, Glory Day Loflin, who created pop-style dog art especially for the hotel. A portion of all artwork sales benefitted Let’em Live Upstate, and the artist’s work will continue to be for sale in the Aloft lobby through June.
Aloft and Let’em Live Upstate have several local sponsors supporting the foster dog program. Wilson Associates Real Estate partnered with Tindall Architecture Workshop to build a state-of-the-art dog house for the program, which is a miniature replica of the hotel that serves as each adoptable dog’s own space to play and rest during their stay. Solid Gold Pet supplies each foster dog with nutrient-dense food and sends each adopting family home with a care package to ensure an ongoing healthy diet. Paw Paws USA sends each dog home with a new leash and collar.
The Aloft Greenville Downtown program is modeled after the successful foster dog program at Aloft Asheville Downtown, which launched in 2014 and has helped more than 80 dogs find their forever homes to date. Earlier this year, Aloft Tallahassee Downtown also launched a similar program. All three hotels are operated by McKibbon Hospitality, a leading hotel development and management company committed to providing unique guest experiences while making a difference in the local communities it serves.
